About

Matthew Wynne is a Long Island-based pianist with over 35 years of professional music experience and is a dedicated jazz musician.

One of the joys of listening to jazz is knowing a tune and hearing what a jazz given band does with their own interpretation of it. The typical jazz repetiore consists of popular music from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. For many younger listeners, these songs are unfamiliar. What makes my trio different from other jazz groups is that we have set out to bring into our repertiore interesting jazz arrangements of modern popular rock tunes from the 1960s through the 1990s, such as Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Nirvana, and Stevie Wonder, which makes the music much more accessible and interesting to a wider swath of the general public. We also play challenging jazz tunes by such composers as Chick Corea and John Coltrane, as well as our own compositions.
